How I Changed Cambodia

For past 3 years learning in Liger, I was also involved in many projects that impacted different parts and places of Cambodia, such as The Geography Book Of Cambodia, Say No To Single-Use Of Plastic In Liger, Disability Podcast, etc. From writing a book, informing the knowledge about the Cambodia geography and it’s hidden fascinating nature, launching a school campaign to convince the benefit of zero waste living lifestyle, recording podcasts based on the mission to spread awareness about life difficulties of people with disability in Cambodia with both languages and so on. As a result, this is just a small fraction of actions that we have taken in Liger. Nevertheless only one of those many projects has stood out to me the most; the one I am genuinely passionate about, the one that indeed has impacted the country in many ways, and the one that could shape the future of Cambodia. It is the Filmmaking concept; it has always been one of my interests outside classes. It’s a way to tell stories, express feelings, and describe emotions. Just like a good moment will always be remembered yet a good story will last for eternity. As a whole, this is why films are one of the most powerful campfires that gather people around as one to be connected. It is magnificent, it works just like magic.

In the last few months, I have been involved in a Filming and Acting project leading by a few talented, and awesome people from Hollywood. The whole learning experience was wonderful. We got to learn new tools in video editing, different images of acting, and the concept of making a good film. Also even if there is an uncertain target in this exploration, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Meanwhile, you might be wondering, out of all the many projects that I have accomplished this year and some of them are even having a bigger impact on the country, so why on earth would I choose Filming to represent me and the way I changed Cambodia?

For instance, I can answer that with one simple phrase, “always look forward”. Currently, this might not be the best path to choose, yet I have an undoubtedly high expectation for the future. It has  a very high potential to revolutionize the perspective of people’s minds. Presently here are some of my most worthwhile creations:

A SHORT FILM ABOUT TEENAGERS LOVE

This film was recently made during the time while I was involved in the Filming & Acting exploration. The main theme of the film is much more into entertaining, yet this film means a lot to me. The crew, our facilitator, the process of making the film are just marvelous. It was one of my best year moments when making this film.

THE MINORITY RIGHT

This short video clip was published a while ago in our literacy class. Some people might just take it as just an assessment and paragraph writing. However, for me, I put my all into this short video, because I don’t just want to enjoy making it, but I also want to spread the words that hide deep inside the minority community to the world.

DISABILITY PODCAST

This one isn’t a video clip neither a film. In fact, it is the first-ever podcast that I made last year. The podcast was associated with people with disabilities and it was as a really incredible experience to work closely, and interviewing them as well as creating and sharing this podcast to the public.

CWC News

CWC News video was actually the main goal in the first-ever Exploration that I joined Liger “Clean Water Cambodia”. The idea was to make a short news video to inform the danger of water pollution to the surrounding community. Even though I wasn’t the one who shooting and editing them, but I’m still really proud to be a part of making this news video.

ទិវាអក្សរសាស្រ្ត និងវប្បធម៌ខ្មែរ | ការតស៊ូមតិដោយគ្មានការព្រាងទុក

This one is also only a small clip of giving the information about the coming up Khmer Liitures event, what is a debate, and how to join the Khmer debate booth. It doesn’t have much of an impact to anything, yet it still giving out a little knowledge to people about what is a debate.

ANT FILM

Last but not least we got the Ant Film. If you don’t know, here’s a little information about what is Ant. basically it was one of the four group names in our junior court in the very first year at Liger. The technical, editing style and quality of the video look a bit old, yet I think it was the most powerful, meaningful, and stunning film project that I have ever been involved in. There were originally four films from four different groups, but this is the one that I was associated with. Sometimes I looked back at this video, it doesn’t just bring me back a lot of memories, but it’s also got me thinking of how impressive of work I could do at that time after I got into Liger and how much I have improved my skill now.

In short, I just wanted to say how much of going through this path has changed me personally, mentally, and even my country. Additionally, I will continually make more impactful films, video, news, clip, podcasts, and other media productions, to help improve my learning skills and getting a step closer to my goal. Even though I’m nowhere close to any of those dreams now, or even in the future, my plan might not go as well as it should be. I am more than pleased to create at least an impact on my country, no matter if it was small or huge. I believe that with the right amount of time, hard work, and dedication, one day the goal of shaping the film industry in Cambodia, might no longer be a childhood dream because I am just getting started.

THE CROSSOVER | NOVEL STUDY BOOK REVIEW

The Crossover is one of the most popular children’s book written by American author Kwame Alexander in 2015.  The book was honer winning John Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Award in that same year. The Crossover, is a story told through poems and funky rap style about basketball, rules, dribbling, and crossing over the line of brotherhood. It displays the life of a young teenage twin brothers who have dedicated their life to becoming basketball championships, just like their old man. This is a  certainly simple to read yet fascinating, full of actions, and entertaining book for especially young readers to pick up.

Here’s one of my favorite quotes from the book. However, if you don’t want anymore spoiler about the book itself you can close this tap immediately and run out to a book store to purchase one of this masterpiece.

Sport is not just about to rule The Game of Life

There are no coaches

At funerals. No practice

To get ready. No warm-up

There is no last-second shot, and we all wear it’s cruel

Midnight uniform, starless

And unfriendly

I am unprepared

 For death

This is a game.

I cannot play

It has no rule

No referees

You cannot win.

BEYOND THE UNDERWORLD

Going on trips to places and explore the whole new worlds is something I always love to do, and it’s one of my interests. I like being away from home, explore, stay out of my comfort zone and just totally being uncomfortable. Except I never been tracked before. And Outdoor Leadership exploration was the golden opportunity for me. It’s isn’t a wonder why going trekking was a really joyful and memorable experience for me.

I got to see news birds, awesome incest, interesting animals, and new mysterious plants. Others than that I learn how to make fires, cooks, shelters, and energy help in the wood by using all of the surrounding natural resources. It’s was a really magnificent trip experience. Besides all of the joyful experiences in nature, I had also introduced to the way of living together in the wood, and how we can help one another as friends, taking management, being organize, and achieve the goal together

I got to admit even though growing up my family travels a lot, and there are many others experience and memorable moments with them. yet this one might be the best one so far. By observing the surrounding nature, understanding more about nature, and being in the wild together as a family was the best moment of all time.

TOS MERL

Traveling Theaters was one of the many interesting projects that are I was involving in this year. The project was very new to me, yet I wasn’t having so much trouble getting to understand about it. I did learn about so many things in the project from acting, to designing a stage, and organizing a trip, it was just a really amazing project to be apart of. Anyways if you are bord with reading my paragraph here’s a little timeline about how did we set the stage up once we travel to places to perform our show.

The one main goal for this exploration is to spread and show the experience of theater to people in the rural area especially in far provinces from Phnom Penh city. Even though I wasn’t able to go on the trip with my teammate at the time, but I heard about a lot of really nice comment from them about the show. Which also boosted the mood, and tells me that many people like our work and they wanted to see more.  And I’m also really looking forward to doing more of this project.

FORCE FIELD

Force Field has always known as one of the most indestructible and powerful transparent shields that can be shaped shift into a really thin bubble or shapes surrounding objects or people.

“Boeing Invents Real Star Wars-Style Force Fields: One Page.” The Kim Komando Show, www.komando.com/happening-now/301253/boeing-invents-real-star-wars-style-force-fields/all.

In the Sci-Fi world, there are many abilities and superpowers that are used against the laws of physics. However, in our reality science has identified the four main force known in the universe. Gravity, Electromagnetic, the Strong and Weak Nuclear Forces. Yet the question still remains. Are any of those forces can make scientists dreams come true by converting them into the force field with our billions dollar money and modern-day teach. Is force field physically possible or it’s just an imagination?

Are FORCE FIELD real?| Design by Chhayachhay Chhom; Date 23/07/2019, 4:54 PM

So, first of all, let start off with Gravity Force. A force which keeps pulling us, the solar system and the universe in place; which is kind of the opposite of what we are looking for because the force field is supposed to repel objects and not pulling them. Plue gravity is a pretty weak force and also working on a huge scale which is impossible to shape into a thin bubble.

Now let’s move on to Electromagnetic Force. Even though electromagnetic force can repel metals, but it is will be useless opposed to insulating materials such as plastic and rubber. Also, magnets are physically impossible to turn into a thin transparent layer.

So next up we got the Strong and Weak Nuclear Forces. The weak nuclear force is responsible for heating up the Earth cores and moving the plate tectonics. Meanwhile, the strong force holds nuclear atoms together and provide energy to stars in the universe. Except the problem is that there are only working on micro scales and we are yet of reaching the technology on achieving to expanding its form.

“Fundamental Forces of the Universe: Physics – M3: Physics, Science, Unique.” Pinterest, www.pinterest.com/pin/133771051411847942/.

To sum up, a force field is only standing on the type one impossibility, which means with the hight technology tool in the future force field might no longer be a fictional indestructible shield.

SIMPLE MACHINE

Now if you are like me. You are probably one of those people who lay on the bed every night staring at the ceiling and just questioning yourself about life in the universe and why it’s matter. In addition, I would be just looking around my room and wonder how are different objects were made, why are doorknob invented, who thought of the ideas of windows, what are those investors think of when they created handles, what are even machines and so on.

All in all those of the object that I just mentioned above and falling into the categories of Simple Machin. Simple Machins are any mechanical device for performance that divided into these 6 types such as Lever, Wheel and axle, Pulley, Inclined plane, Wedge, and Screw. They were introduced and studied during the 3rd century BC by one of the most well known Greek philosopher Archimedes.

Furthermore, the evidence of simple mechanics usage was way date back to the 2560 BCE. They were managed by the ancient Egyptian even used to create other ancient sites of the Seven Wonders of the World. Isn’t that crazy!  Moreover, they are still being used until these days for constructions, inventions, and experiments. Now if you ask me, that is absolutely magnificent.

HOW TO BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE

Being different is very difficult, yet it’s not impossible. Your life is just like a wheel, going round and round without knowing any directions. Sometime you might be facing a really nice, smooth, and clear route, but at other times you might also be facing a really rocky, bumpy and steep one. However, the question is, how are you going to face those routes and successfully cross the path?  Within the same situation as life, sadness will always be there with you. Nonetheless, the one thing that you could do is to face it with strength. Everyone has been created in their own unique pattern that doesn’t mean you should feel upset about the person you are. Here are the three ways that you could determine your happiness and be proud of who you are.

“What Are You Proud of?” Voice in Recovery (ViR)™, 2 Feb. 2011, voiceinrecovery.wordpress.com/2010/07/19/what-are-you-proud-of/.

First thing first is to stay calm and remain peaceful. Especially if you consider yourself a black sheep, you better be ready in every situation. Research conducted in July 2018 from the Independent Company in the UK has presented as a result, “each day on average, families disagree six times – a total of 42 rows a week or 182 a month and parents will have 2,184 arguments with their children every year”. Additionally, I have yet to mention society, community, school, and in public. You see, being yourself is awesome, but others might not be having the same mindset as yours. In fact, often you would be targeted by the crowd and a lot of times you might have found yourself in a situation where you couldn’t take over your emotion. At the same time, the argument isn’t always the first-rate to solve problems. Meanwhile, you can take a step back, and reflect on the situation. Therefore, as long as you keep being you, encourage yourself, learn from your mistakes and move on could also boost your mood.

Mandy Hale, one of an inspirational author around the world has said in one of her well-known quote to, “Just be yourself. Let people see the real, imperfect, flawed, quirky, weird, beautiful, magical person that you are.” Being who you are is one of the best ways to achieve happiness. Furthermore, just care less about the surrounding crowd giving negativities on your actions, because each step you take matters the most to you. Drop out all of that criticism, do what you like, and keep following your dream. In addition, how do you think Steve Jobs has become a millionaire and living life as one of the greatest visionaries in history? As a result, he was living life by a quote of, “your time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s” (2019). So go out there and show them what you got and be the only magnificent person that you are.

Finally, just put a smile on your face. I know you are probably asking yourself and thinking that this is not as easy as it sounds. And yes, you are perfectly right. Yet there are always 2 sides to every story. This solution is probably not as hard as you think if you put it simply like this.  Let’s say your friends always make fun of your nerdy attitude and always left you behind every time they went to hang out. Also, you might be feeling a bit sad and heartbroken. Even so, don’t you feel bad for yourself, because every time you were left behind in the library, your strength of knowing has grown every time, and that’s the greatest weapon you’ll ever find? Who knows, maybe one day you’ll be the next William Shakespeare. On the whole, you just don’t have to take everything too serious, deep, and important. Just chill out and keep the smile on, and the positivity mindset no matter what, when, or wherever you are because the power of a positive mindset is everything.

After all, happiness is everywhere. It’s not hard to find, even you don’t get the wealth, fame, or power. You are precious, beautiful, and amazing just the way you are. Don’t let all of those dark clouds ruin your day. “When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world.”. As long as you keep being yourself, remain peaceful, and got the alacrity mindsets on, your life will be a rainbow.

WHY ARE SCHOOL LIBIES ESSENTIAL

Only a tiny fraction of the world’s information is available for free on the internet. Plus the fact of about 4.4 billion people around the world still doesn’t have access to the internet. But all basic essential supplies could possibly count from A-Z  that you need for your every day of learning is available through libraries. Despite the fact of the lack of funding to sustain libraries, schools must support long-term investment in libraries, because they are the essential base zone for students to expand their knowledge, develop the human mindset, and provide a unique learning environment

“120,000 American libraries just got even cooler thanks to Grow with Google” – https://www.fastcompany.com/90273681/120000-american-libraries-just-got-even-cooler-thanks-to-grow-with-google

Building up a wonderful library could expand the knowledge of youth and the next generation. Author Leonard Kniffel holds masters’ degrees in English and library science from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He published a new version of an old article on December 21, 2010, on American Libraries magazine called “12 Ways Libraries Are Good for the Country.” The article covered the whole idea of the power of libraries. Two of the relatable ways that specify in the article itself is Libraries sustain democracy, libraries nourish creativity, and Libraries offer sanctuary. In the same way sitting in an area that’s full of joy, silence, and comfort, also known as the library, can offer a mentally gaining experience which means a better intelligence in ways such as increased vocabulary, improved writing skills, building up of genius, and even reducing your stress.

“Does Reading Slow You Down?” – https://www.kwiklearningonline.com/store/P2dS7Cwq

On the others hand, if libraries are not essential, then why have some of the world’s smartest, intellectual billionaires such as Bill Gates, President John Adams, Andrew Carnegie, Giles Gilbert Scott, and etc drained their money, time, blood, toil, tears and sweat to construct those wonderful libraries. This is an absolutely clear claim of how libraries can criticize the mindset of a person. Creativity, Innovative, and Critical thinking are things that could be master through virality of training. For an example doing extensive research from hundreds and thousands of pages through documents, books, records, and reports rather than typing a few ridiculous words into a search engine could increase the level of a person’s out-of-the-box thinking.

“You are here: Home / small business / Thinking Outside the Box in Business Thinking Outside the Box in Business”- https://gettingmoneywise.com/2017/04/thinking-outside-the-box-in-business.html

Of course, to gain a better understanding of literature, students shall be committed throughout times of tough work, for that reason what’s a better way to explore the world of literature by being engaged with reading. The Australian Council for Educational Research had published an article called “How libraries and librarians can support student engagement”.  In the first paragraph of the article with the graph displays of data from the Australasian Survey of Student from 2008 had stated, “There’s very strong evidence to suggest that students tend to be more engaged with learning on the whole if they engage with library resources, interact with library staff, and spend time using libraries” (2008, p.1). The paragraph also concluded with a precise comparison describing “AUSSE to show that students who report using library resources on campus or online are often more highly engaged with the university, and are less likely to have considered leaving their university before completion.” The article certainly provides the claim, facts, comparison, and clear examples that show us how libraries are the best learning improvement paradise for students. In addition, this is what we need, what we deserve, libraries are for everyone,  It’s a place where communities build it’s where people gather, experience and experiment with the arts and media, and engage in community discussions and games.

“Making the Most of In-Class Book Clubs” – https://www.edutopia.org/article/making-most-class-book-clubs

Finally, for each and every school to have a sustainable and essential library is one of the best possible solutions for the student to engage more with their education. Yes, the internet is huge and there a whole ton of accessible information out there. Meanwhile, students could found themselves lost and get distracted by those technologies. But what about the funding? Doesn’t school couldn’t have enough money to sustain a library? Actually, no: Turns out school could actually be using the money that is thrown to some of those unnecessary games activities, fun trip, new years event, or school party, for the library construction. The result won’t pay off at the beginning but trusting at the long-term the decision won’t be wrong.
